CalNotes stores all data locally on your device using iOS's secure storage mechanisms:

• Food Entries: All food logs, calorie counts, and nutritional data are stored locally on your device
• User Preferences: Your daily calorie goals, app settings, and customizations remain on your device
• No Cloud Sync: We do not sync your data to the cloud or any external servers

AI Features

CalNotes uses AI to estimate calories and analyze food photos. Here's how we protect your privacy:

• Secure Processing: AI calorie estimates are processed securely through our service providers
• No Data Retention: Food descriptions and photos are sent to the AI service only for processing and are not stored by us or the AI provider
• Offline Fallback: Common foods can be estimated without any internet connection or AI service
• User Control: You have full control over when to use AI features

Camera and Photo Access

If you choose to use the camera feature to scan food:

• Photos are processed locally or sent directly to the AI service for analysis
• Photos are not stored by CalNotes or saved to your device unless you choose to save them
• Camera permission is only requested when you actively use the camera feature

Voice Input

If you use voice input features:

• Voice data is processed by iOS's native speech recognition
• Voice recordings are not stored or transmitted by CalNotes
• Voice input is converted to text locally on your device

Third-Party Services

CalNotes may interact with the following third-party services:

• AI Services: Third-party AI services for calorie estimation and food recognition (data sent only for processing, not stored)
• Apple Services: iOS system services for speech recognition and standard app functionality

These services have their own privacy policies. Data sent to AI services is used only for processing your request and is not stored or used for any other purpose.

Data Security

Your data is protected by iOS's built-in security features, including device encryption and secure storage. Since data never leaves your device, the security of your data is primarily dependent on your device's security settings.

Children's Privacy

CalNotes does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. The app is designed for general audiences and does not target children.

Your Rights

Since all data is stored locally on your device:

• You have complete control over your data
• You can delete all data by uninstalling the app
• You can delete individual entries within the app at any time
• No data requests are necessary as we don't store your data
